This Netflix Original movie I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House is about a nurse Lily (Ruth Wilson) who comes to take care of an old author, Iris Blum, living alone in a remote house. Iris is almost senile and speaks to Lily only referring to her as Polly. Lily finds out that Polly was Iris’s most famous character and she attempts reading one of the books that Iris has written.
The story is simple enough, but I found the movie to be boring and very slow moving. What I absolutely loved was the house itself. The white farmhouse is supposed to be stark and gloomy, but I found it to be filled with charm.
I fell in love with the wide plank hardwood floors right away.
The wainscotting is throughout the entire house. Here’s a peek into the kitchen.
Notice the bright yellow refrigerator?
The hallway upstairs.
This is Iris’ office. I love so much about this room. Not sure who that’s a picture of?
The same room as above, but the other side. This is what it looked like when Lily moves in.
The office when Iris was a young writer.
A glimpse into the bathroom.
