The Intern set, starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway, is beyond Pinterest worthy. Nancy Meyers – the Oscar-nominated and award-winning filmmaker (It’s Complicated, Something’s Gotta Give) is behind the film.
The movie is centered on a Brooklyn-based fashion site founder (played by Hathaway) and her 70-year-old intern (played by De Niro).
The director teamed with Oscar-nominated production designer Kristi Zea on the sets, which were influenced by Meyers’ own Pinterest boards. A home in the nearby Clinton Hill neighborhood was used as the shooting location.
I love how they mixed contemporary furnishings with the architectural details. A Lindsey Adelman light fixture hangs above the dining table, which has miss-matched chairs.
The kitchen is the central hub in Jules’ home. The design combines industrial and rustic elements, including open shelving, a subway-tile backsplash, and a farmhouse sink.
Meyers and Zea used black-and-white photography, prints, and children’s artwork to display in Jules’ brownstone.
I absolutely love this bedroom. The walls are painted a dark charcoal. The atmosphere is so warm and cozy.
Meyers and Zea actually toured start-up companies for inspiration.
